SAPPHIRE, SEPTEMBER’S PRECIOUS STONE

September’s precious stone is the sapphire, often believed to be exclusively blue in color, but on the contrary it is a gem with the most varied colorations: from pink to orange, to purple, to green, to yellow up to colorless white.
Although the orange sapphire, called “Padparadscha” in Sanskrit which alludes to the color of the lotus flower, has an extremely high value, some blue sapphires of exceptional intensity and color are even rarer. This is the case of the Kashmir sapphire, from a remote area of the Himalayas where a century ago, after only 5 years of excavation, its reserves were almost completely exhausted. Today on the market you can only find some small stones or specimens of unique rarity that circulate at exorbitant prices on the most exclusive market.
