Women’s Day, Jewelry to Give for March 8th
Women’s Day, jewelry to give for March 8th – “Jewelry is not made to give women an aura of wealth, but to make them beautiful”. This was said by Coco Chanel, the celebrated designer who revolutionized women’s fashion in the 1920s and who remains an icon in fashion history to this day. A century later, her statement still holds true: even for Women’s Day, jewelry is always the gift par excellence, celebrating beauty combined with preciousness.
The word jewelry, in fact, as the Treccani dictionary tells us, derives from the old French joel, which in turn came from the Latin iocus, meaning game, jest, that is, something that brings joy. “Joy” is still a synonym for jewelry to indicate an object made of precious metal, created as an ornament for the neck, arms, hands, or any other part of the body. With “jewelry” or “joy” we also indicate a thing or person that we consider perfect and therefore precious.
What Jewelry Tells Us about a Woman

Since ancient times, jewelry has been destined to adorn especially the female body and has become the most precious gift to give to a woman. But these are not just simple ornaments, as explains Paola Pizza, fashion psychologist: “Jewelry, like all accessories, has the function of communicating the uniqueness and particularity of our identity“.
Ornament, Prestige, Seduction
The expert states that jewelry serves various functions, beyond the primary one of being an ornament typical of feminine beauty. Jewelry can also be a symbol of prestige, linked to the value of the materials from which it is made, and therefore a means to show one’s vanity. Furthermore, jewelry attracts attention to the parts of the body it adorns and is therefore an instrument of seduction, both feminine and masculine.
The fashion psychologist adds: “Jewelry expresses the desire to be admired and is experienced as exclusive objects with which to identify in order to feel exceptional. But it also expresses the desire for self-admiration, to have a positive image of oneself. Women, for example, increasingly purchase jewelry to express their autonomy. The jewelry store also represents an exclusive place where one can have engaging consumer experiences.”
The psychologist also offers useful advice for giving the right gift on any occasion, including Women’s Day: jewelry should be chosen primarily to enhance the personality of the recipient.
Women’s Day, which Jewelry to Choose

Following the psychologist’s suggestions, the first thing to do when giving jewelry for March 8th is to think about the woman who will receive it. What are her style and personality? Is she someone who loves tradition or appreciates novelty? Does she prefer simplicity or love important accessories? The answers to these questions will help direct the choice toward the most suitable piece of jewelry.
It is then also a matter of choosing the type of jewelry: ring, bracelet, necklace, or earrings? In this case too, the first criterion to keep in mind is the recipient’s preferences. It is important, for example, to know if she adores bracelets or if she never wears necklaces.
Ring, Bracelet, or Earrings?
But much also depends on the meaning one wants to attribute to the gift: even for Women’s Day, jewelry sends precise messages. A ring is always a symbol of a strong bond and is a gift with important meaning. This is especially true when precious stones like diamonds are added to gold.
Necklaces and bracelets also represent jewelry that “binds,” a traditional symbol of affection, which can also be interpreted with a more contemporary style.
Finally, but no less pleasing, there are pendants and earrings, often considered less “committed” gifts from a symbolic point of view. However, they are highly appreciated accessories because they are suitable for different styles and situations, from casual clothing to formal occasions.
