OPAL, OCTOBER’S PRECIOUS STONE

Stone of the month opal, Opal, October’s Precious Stone
The opal is a unique gem thanks to its infinite combinations of color and iridescent shades that recall a rainbow. The presence of its characteristic effect, called “play-of-color,” characterized by a milky white with flashes of color or by tones ranging from blue to red to green, led ancient poets to associate the opal with galaxies, fireworks, or even incandescent volcanoes.
In ancient Bedouin legends, it is told that this gem was born from the explosion of lightning in the sky. It was believed to contain within itself the color of all stones known on earth.

The Greeks discovered the healing power of the opal, using it as a talisman against diseases and believing it conferred success and fortune to its wearer.
For many centuries, thanks to its magical and positive power, this stone was given the symbol of purity, hope, and truth.
According to modern Crystal Therapy, the opal stimulates an unmistakable joy of living in those who wear it, encouraging them to see their life “in color” and making emotions more intense. It is well known that this stone is used for problems related to the female reproductive system: to rebalance hormones and the nervous system. Not only that, it also helps regulate the water levels in our body, purifying blood and kidneys. Wearing this gem contributes to improved hair and nails.
It is said that giving an opal is auspicious for celebrating the fourteenth wedding anniversary.
It was discovered in India and subsequently imported to ancient Rome, where it was given the name opal.
Today, opal deposits are famous in various parts of the world, but the most important one is found in Australia, where there is exceptional production of black and white opals.
