Artisan Jewelry: a Stellar Inspiration for the New Sidereum Collection by Luca Daverio
Artisan jewelry is the expression of creativity, one that comes to life from a barely sketched idea or from a source of great inspiration. This is how it was for the new Sidereum collection, created and crafted by designer Luca Daverio from a powerful inspiration that relates to the origin of the universe.
A Collection that Comes from the Stars
“For the new “Sidereum” collection” ̶ explains Daverio ̶ I was inspired by universal events and the Big Bang theory, which hypothesizes how the universe emerged from a single point, an almost inconceivable and inspiring concept.” The designer has a long family tradition behind him in creating artisan jewelry and has already brought to life over the years pieces that propose particular forms, such as the curls and spirals of the collections of the same name and the embraces of For Ever Hug Me, expert workmanship such as the engravings of Heritage, unique pieces of high jewelry such as those in the Masterpieces collection.
For Sidereum, the starting idea is a concept difficult for the human mind to comprehend, but very evocative: that of a single generating point, a singular concentration of energy that by expanding gave life to the entire universe. The name of the collection comes from the Latin adjective “sidereus,” which means “stellar, belonging to the stars”: a term that evokes those stars that humans have always looked at with wonder and that for centuries have been the guide for travelers and a source of inspiration for those who, from their observation, believe they can know the future.
Artisan Jewelry in Gold, Titanium and Diamonds and a Tribute to Fontana
The icon of the collection is precisely inspired by the stars: a necklace composed of a multitude of stars that culminate in a central titanium disc, where a slit stands out, an artistic legacy that recalls Lucio Fontana’s famous “cuts.” “Through this slit ̶ explains Luca Daverio again ̶ one will be able to see the chthonic world, that world to be discovered and brought to light, transforming it into new beauty.” Sidereum’s journey therefore starts from the origins of universal time and space to arrive at the terrestrial and underground world, all to be investigated and appreciated.
One of the characteristic elements of the collection is the use of titanium, a material with peculiar characteristics and which, even in its name, connects to the collection’s inspiration: in Greek mythology, in fact, the Titans were the primordial forces of the universe. Titanium is a material more resistant than steel, but much lighter, suitable for contemporary creations, but also difficult to work with, which makes it difficult to find artisan jewelry made in titanium.
The Sidereum collection consists of necklaces, rings, pendants, bracelets, earrings in gold, titanium and diamonds, handcrafted by Luca Daverio.
A Star as a Gift
A gift accompanies the Sidereum jewelry: with each piece a star is given as a gift, with a certificate that shows the coordinates of the star and the registration date in the International Space Registry. The name of the star will be that of the chosen jewelry piece with the addition of the name of the purchaser or the person for whom it is intended. A personalization that recalls the origin of the collection and adds an additional element of originality to these new pieces of jewelry.
Sidereum Previewed at the Rome Film Festival
The new collection was presented in absolute preview last October on the occasion of the Women in Cinema Award, presented during the Rome Film Festival. Acting as ambassador for Daverio1933 was Claudia Conte, actress, cultural entrepreneur and human rights activist, who presented the event wearing Sidereum necklace, ring and earrings. The event, which took place at the Roman Aquarium and was dedicated to Iranian women and their protests against the Tehran regime, awarded actresses Maria Pia Ammirati, Chiara Francini and Lunetta Savino, director Giuseppe Piccioni, singer Arisa and journalist Miriam Mauti, with a special recognition to singer Elodie for her film debut.
After its debut on the stage of the Roman event, starting in December the Sidereum collection will be available to everyone in the Daverio1933 showroom and in the online shop.
