Its growth develops in large six-sided crystals, thus facilitating cutting to obtain larger stones.
Raw specimens are mostly extracted in Brazil, but also in Nigeria, Madagascar, Zambia, Pakistan and Mozambique.
The most common aquamarines are often of a light shade ranging from light blue to blue, to those with greener hues, less rare and precious than those with deeper and more intense blue tones.
Ancient sailors claimed that this gem had the power to calm the waves of the sea and was therefore considered very precious and auspicious.
Aquamarine has been associated for centuries with fidelity, friendship, health, hope and youth. This gemstone is also used to celebrate 19 years of marriage.
