Ruby is July’s gemstone and is considered the king of stones. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Indians discovered the first ruby mines in the lands of Mogok (now Myanmar) in 3000 BC; in those times this gem was used as an ornament or for healing purposes. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

It was, in fact, ground into powder and drunk to cure circulatory or digestive problems. It is said that warriors of Burma had it embedded under their skin to protect them during battles. <\/span><\/p>\n

Wearing a ruby is auspicious for a peaceful life, <\/span>health, well-being, wisdom and love. If worn on the left hand, it was even thought to help one live in peace with enemies. <\/span><\/p>\n

Like all precious stones, ruby presents different shades depending on the territory of <\/span>extraction or specifically based on the geological-mineralogical zone in which it was formed. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

A characteristic that distinguishes it from a pink sapphire or an orange sapphire, also derived from corundum like ruby, is the intensity of the red color. <\/span><\/p>\n

The most saturated ones come from the famous Burma region, while Thai ones appear darker and less saturated. The ruby mines still active today are those in Mozambique, Vietnam, Cambodia, Afghanistan, Madagascar and Kenya, while Tanzania remains the main area where superlative rubies can be found. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
